The city of Ashland is a prime
cultural, industrial and recreational hub. Widely known as one of the world's
premier cultural centers, it is a mecca for enthusiasts of fine art, music and
especially theatre. For most of each year (February through October),
Ashland presents its Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Eleven
noted works, from the Bard himself to contemporary playwrights, are presented on
three unique stages, including the only authentically reproduced Elizabethan
theatre in the United States. Other outstanding performances are presented by
the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, the Rogue Valley Symphony, the Rogue Opera, State
Ballet of Oregon, Southern Oregon State College Theatre, Studio X, Actors'
Theatre of Ashland, the Lyric Theatre and Ashland Children's Theatre. | |
